FAQs

    • Structured- our worship services are liturgical, meaning they have the same basic structure from week to week. Certain elements change like Bible readings, sermon text and hymns. Others, like the Lord's Prayer, stay the same.

    • Gospel-focused- We want everyone to walk away from worship having heard that Jesus is their Savior from sin and death.

    • Bible-based- Just about everything spoken or sung in a worship service is taken right from the Bible. We worship this way because "Faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the word about Christ." (Rom 10:17)

    • Participation by People- the congregation participates by joining in speaking portions of the liturgy together, singing hymns, and praying.

    • Bring them with you, no matter how young or noisy they are!

    • We do not offer "children's church." We believe it is important for the whole family to be together in worship. Noise from children is a good thing. That means they are in God's house!

    • We also offer a Sunday School program after worship for ages 3-12. 

  • We have a parking lot east of our church building and there are many spots for parking on the street as well.

  • There are no rules for this. Some prefer to dress up in reverence and respect. Others dress casually and comfortably. We just want you to hear God's word.

  • No. Members of St. John's give a portion of what God has given to them to support the work we do as a congregation and church body. We do this not because we have to, but because we sincerely want to. If you are visiting us for worship, you may give if that is your desire, but there certainly is no obligation. (2 Cor 9:7)

    • St. John's abides by the biblical practice (I Cor. 10-11) of member communion, meaning that only confirmed members of St. John's and our sister churches are invited to receive communion. This practice is not intended to belittle or demean anyone. To the contrary, it is done out of love for God's word and out of love for the souls in attendance in worship.
